With this in mind, SENTRY established SENTRY Hospitality Unversity (SHU) the conference center industry's first comprehensive, collegiate-style training program designed for all associate levels – from line employees to executive staff. SHU helps set a “standard for service excellence and consistency of core values”

Courses taught at SHU include such hospitality-related topics as: Guest Oriented Decision Making, Leadership Training, Team Building, Property Management, Internal Communications & Support, Sales and Marketing, Problem Solving Skills and Solution Systems, Financial Management and P&L Interpretation, Cross Training and Executive Leadership Institute Courses, among others.

SENTRY created this award winning service-training program to further distinguish our position in the marketplace as the deliverer of Five Star hospitality. SENTRY Hospitality is also unique in the development of SENTRY Hospitality University (SHU) and the commitment to a Corporate Director of Training. Our Training Director delivers a variety of training modules to the end user in their environment and then follows-up directly and consistently with diversified resources and techniques.

With a comprehensive curriculum of more than 15 SHU courses ranging from Service Excellence and Hospitality Zones to Guest-Focused Problem Solving to Profit & Loss Analysis, we assure training is continuous and ongoing. The SHU curriculum continues to evolve, expanding and keeping pace with real world demand through new course development. With constant program evaluation, SENTRY ensures that the content and concept is current and relative to the objectives of our associates and clients

Providing Excellence Through People is the credo for SENTRY Hospitality University (SHU). Service training and Five Star Service Excellence program is the heart and foundation of SENTRY Hospitality University.

The curriculum-based service-training program (SHU) has matured into a comprehensive immersion of critical service attributes and practices that must be mastered for consistent delivery of exceptional service.

SHU Objectives are clear:

•  Create Service Excellence through well trained, highly motivated service personnel operating as a winning team.

•  Provide personal and professional development with creative recognition, incentive and reward initiatives to encourage 100% commitment, delivery beyond expectations and retention of the best of the best.

•  To utilize Training & Development as the competitive advantage in a highly competitive hospitality environment


SHU Delivery

SENTRY's Corporate Director of Training and Development accommodates each locations specific training needs.

•  Flexible hours to accommodate employee and customer needs.

•  Single course for a small group or extensive training for an entire workforce

•  Custom designed training programs and facilitators guide assure uniformity

•  Follow-up programs, web-based programs and e-newsletters can be made available to all Service Partners participating in future SHU programs.

•  Ongoing training and development will be provided monthly via the Internet, video conferencing and/or Regional programs .

•  Provides the Attendee with a unique blend of classroom interaction, synchronized Power Point, creative interface and multimedia

•  Training can be tailored to a wide geographical audience and provide constant and consistent development through the virtual classroom.

•  The SHU Virtual Campus enables “students” to participate in self-paced training and monitor progress through on-line Q & A and interactive Quiz programs.

•  Team building programs are delivered in group sessions through regional meetings and interactive online activity.

•  Monthly E-Newsletters and electronic interaction with Director of Training build team spirit


Course Delivery Method

The following are all included:

•  Instructor: Dedicated Corporate Trainer with flexible availability.

•  Course Materials: Comprehensive course materials and additional study material, one set per course participant.

•  Logistical Management: The Corporate Trainer manages all the logistical arrangements.

•  Instructor Teleconference: The instructor will participate in a conference call with representatives to discuss specific needs prior to the course.

•  Course Evaluations: Course evaluations are a key component of SENTRY Hospitality University's ongoing quality control process, monitoring both instructor quality and course content quality. Host agrees to have all attendees complete a detailed course evaluation, utilizing course evaluation forms furnished by SENTRY. SENTRY will provide a detailed summary of the evaluations in additions to a copy of each individual completed evaluation.

Host will need to provide:

•  Classroom: A suitable classroom or meeting space allocated exclusively to training for the duration of training.

•  Facility Access and Assistance: The instructor will require access to the facility the day prior to the course execution to allow for technical set-up.
